My pregnancy journey- 4 Weeks Pregnant… so it begins!

My husband and I just found out last Wednesday that we will be expecting our first child! We were so excited and we just couldn’t wait so we told our family and best friends. I also wanted to share this exciting news and share my journey along the way will everyone! I know most research that you do will say to not to tell anyone besides close family until after the 1st trimester is over but we are so excited for this baby and we are happy to open our lives up to our families and friends!

What is happening inside your body at 4 weeks: 4 Weeks the baby is the size of a poppy seed

  • Our baby is the size of a poppy seed.
  • The ball of cells is splitting into the embryo (your future child) and placenta.
  • Baby’s neural tube, the building block of his spine, brain and backbone, is already formed.
  • The amniotic sac and fluid are forming into protective cushioning for your baby

My pregnancy symptoms Week 4:
Starting the Sunday before we found out I had some pretty bad “cramps” or what I thought where “cramps”. This got me discouraged because I thought that meant that the embryo didn’t implant.  However, I decided to take an early pregnancy test on Wednesday morning just for fun (I am known for taking pregnancy test a week before they would actually work!). That morning I was pleasantly surprised that the test came back with two lines! It was one of those cheap tests so I took one of my expensive tests out and sure enough that came back positive as well!

So that Wednesday night I woke up about 6 different times with horrible back pain that only seem to ease up once I was walking around. I have had back pain off/on sense we found out. That is pretty much the only symptom I have really been able to tell (most experts say you won’t feel anything in week 4). My mom thinks that I am having twins since I tested positive so early and that I already have symptoms, but only time can tell!

What to eat during Week 4:
This book that I am reading “What to eat when you’re pregnant” suggest eating Spinach this week because it is full of folate which is important during this week of pregnancy.  This book is a great source for what is going on in your body at every week as well as letting you know what food is best for the baby during that week. It then gives you a recipe for that food item!

Hope you all will enjoy my pregnancy journey!

A must have for every new mom

Another one of my business ventures was creating a company called “Tags 4 Tots.” I sell signs that you can place on your newborn or preemie’s car seat or stroller that kindly asks everyone to look but not touch! 1382063_10100672011835002_193022402_n

It all started with the motivation behind my little nephew Carter who was born with two holes in his heart. It was very important for all of us to be careful around him and wash our hands because any little germ could have huge impacts on him. Thank God we are able to say that his surgery went great and he healed super fast and now he is 100% cleared from the doctor!

Being a new mom is very stressful. It just adds to your stress when people are always wanting to come up and touch your newborn, all with good attentions. These signs help new moms by having a sign that politely asks others to look but not touch!

I just wanted to share some of the photos that my customers have sent in over the past year!

Meet Baby Matthew Scott Gilpin Jr. (aka MJ)

Seems like my family is just popping out babies lately! My sister, Jessica who has been supplying the Baby Bump photos went into labor 2 weeks early on Thursday, July 30th. Matthew Scott Gilpin Jr. was born at 7:35am weighing in at 6lbs 11 oz and is 20″ long.

After getting to spend a lot of time with baby MJ, we have discovered that he is super duper strong! Also, if he’s upset and you give him back to his momma he calms down!

We are very blessed to have another baby to love!

Meet Reed Thomas Campbell

Reed Thomas Campbell entered this world on Thursday, July 23rd weighing in at 7lbs and was 19″ long.

With Campbell Baby #4, my brother and sister-in-law decided to not find out the sex of the baby because they have both boy and girl clothes! It was a long 9 months without knowing but a lot of fun trying to guess the sex of the baby by the ultrasounds!

The family showed up to the hospital in either “Team Pink” or “Team Blue” clothing. Of course, some remained “Neutral”.
I made two different banners with the girl and boy name that they choose. Had the big brother hold both of the banners while we were in the waiting room. That way we could use either one when we knew the sex of the baby!

We also got the entire family together and hold the sign up to show our support.

Baby Bump – 37 Weeks

Happy Bump Day!! If you ask me how I’m feeling, the response will be this…miserable. I’m miserable. Basically everything that can hurt does hurt. With that being said, whenever you want to come out and play MJ, mommy is ready for you (even though I know it’s better for you to stay in for a bit more…I’m having a hard time convincing myself of this lately). – Jessica

Canvas Elephant and Giraffe Growth Chart with Bible Verse

Canvas Elephant and Giraffe Growth Chart with Bible Verse

I was working on a gender neutral baby room when I designed a growth chart. I decided to get it printed on canvas and hang it with a tree branch!

I didn’t have to go far to find a limb, we have had crazy storms lately and we had tree limbs down all over our yard. I decided to go with a straighter limb to keep the sign level.

Next came how in the world to hang the branch. I decided to take picture hanging wire and wrap it around the bark!

The growth chart starts at 1 foot off the floor. I measured with a tape measure to make sure that it was at the correct height.

I think it turned out pretty good! I decided that I was going to add this growth chart to my store! They are now available here!
