Spring Peony and Magnolia Arrangement

Spring Peony and Magnolia Arrangement

Spring Peony and Magnolia Arrangement

I have a love affair with peonies. I just want them in my house year around. I have about 5 peony bushes at my home. Ants are the ones that eat at the peony bushes and that is what makes the flowers open up. Therefore, it never fails when I try and have fresh peony flowers from my garden I also get those pesky ants.

I decided to go with a faux peony arrangement this year. Looked online and everything was so expensive so I decided to make one myself!

Found flowers on Afloral.com and the quality looked good so I decided to give them a try.

Here is my arrangement:Spring Peony and Magnolia Arrangement

These are the flowers you would need to create this look:

I used 3 Lambs ear, 2 of the Magnolia branches and 1 of each peonies bunches.
The vase I got in 2015 from Pottery Barn. You can get a similar one here

TIPS:
• I cut the peonies off their “base” using wire cutters. (I purchased wire cutters at Lowes)
• I use plastic cups to hole my arrangement in vases (that aren’t glass). They will hold you arrangements pretty good and you can adjust the height of your arrangement by adding/subtracting cups!

• I put together the arrangement in my hand first to arrange it
• Cut off extra length that you don’t need

Pink Peonies Nursery Hack

Pink Peonies Nursery Hack

One of my favorite blogs to follow is Pink Peonies. I just love her style! But let’s face it.. I don’t have the money to spend on the beautiful stuff she has in her house or the clothes she wears!

I fell in love with her little girl’s nursery, especially this I love you sign

Pink Peonies

So I immediately searched her blog to see where she got it. To my dismay, she got it from SugarBoo & Co- a fabulous store, if you have the money. This sign was $700! I couldn’t believe it.

I put my graphic skills to work and created this myself.

Not too shabby if I say so myself… and for 1/7 of the cost!

Decorating with Travel Maps

Traveling is my husband and I’s FAVORITE thing to do! We just work and save up and then go travel somewhere new. I wanted to incorporate our love for travel with our decor in the bedroom! I created these travel maps from the countries and places that we have traveled. We decided the best idea was to start decorating with travel maps from all the places we have visited!

Australia Travel Maps Mediterranean Sea Travel Map

Then I decided to go with this clips that I got from Urban Outfitters to hang the photos, that way as we travel more places I can change out the photos or just add more! When I got the clips in they were a little larger than I was expecting but they still turned out great!
Here are these clips:

I am really happy with the way that it turned out… let me know what you think!

When it came to decorating with apothecary jars, I had a hard time trying to find what I should put in them! I searched all over Pinterest but really didn’t find anything that wasn’t holiday related. So I decided to get creative and fill them up with some of my favorite things!

Here are some of the ideas that I came up with.

I got the wood from an old barn that we have. I bleached the wood to kill anything on it. Then stained it black. The legs came from Hairpin Legs online.

Laundry Baskets:
Under the side table we have 3 laundry baskets that are for light, darks and towels. These baskets came from Target. And they come with a little chalkboard on the front and you can write “Lights, Darks and Towels” on them so your hubby knows which basket to put his clothes in. FYI: Do not put wet towels in the baskets. They will mildew.

Canvas Elephant and Giraffe Growth Chart with Bible Verse

Canvas Elephant and Giraffe Growth Chart with Bible Verse

I was working on a gender neutral baby room when I designed a growth chart. I decided to get it printed on canvas and hang it with a tree branch!

I didn’t have to go far to find a limb, we have had crazy storms lately and we had tree limbs down all over our yard. I decided to go with a straighter limb to keep the sign level.

Next came how in the world to hang the branch. I decided to take picture hanging wire and wrap it around the bark!

The growth chart starts at 1 foot off the floor. I measured with a tape measure to make sure that it was at the correct height.

I think it turned out pretty good! I decided that I was going to add this growth chart to my store! They are now available here!

Herb Garden Inspiration

Growing up, my Grandma always had this ladder leaning up against her house where the towels went to dry after we went swimming. This is something I will always remember. After my Grandma passed, I decided to use this Kiva Ladder in my own home.

Kiva Ladder

I found these pails at Save-on-crafts.com for only $3.99 or 10 for $35. There was no way for the excess water to escape so I used a drill to drill 2 holes in each of the pails.

Then came the struggle of finding out how to hang the pots on the ladder. I looked for weeks for hooks big enough for the ladder. Then, by mistake, I realized the handles come off the pails and that I could just do that! DUH!

Here is the completed garden:

Pottery Barn Hack- Boy’s Sports Wall Art

So my sister came to me when she was creating her son’s nursery. She went with a sports theme and she really loved these 4 Pottery Barn Football Sports wall art. However, they are $119 EACH! She asked me to design basically the same thing but to customize it with her son’s name – MJ.
She purchased this nursery bedding from Pottery Barn and she wanted me to match the colors of the bedding to the signs.

Here is how they turned out:

My sister decided to print these using Shutterfly and print them on metal. The 8×10 metal signs are regularly $59.99. However, there are TONS of promo codes that you can find online to make them cheaper.

DIY Nail-Art Sign

DIY Nail-Art Sign

Trying to figure out what to get a 11 year old as a gift is very frustrating, especially girls. They are to “old” for toys and to young to enjoy clothes.

Alas, I stumbled upon this string art tutorial that inspired me but I changed it up a little bit to fit my niece’s style. I decided to put the sign on wood so that it would last longer. I also decided to use those popular Loomy bands instead of strings. I also opted for the glow in the dark bands as an added bonus!

DIY Dream Rubber Band Sign for teenage girl bedroom

I got the wood from Lowes and had them cut it to the length I wanted. I also got the white paint there. I got the nails and loomy bands from Amazon.
To use the same word, “Dream”,  as is shown in the photo you can download this template here. Cut out all of the letters and assemble into the word “dream” and tape the letters together. You do not have to cut out the middle of the de or  If you would like to use a word other than Dream, you can download this free font Admiration Pants here.

Prepare and paint the wood the color of your choice a day ahead of time so it has enough time to dry. Don’t forget to paint the sides of the wood as well!

Tape the word “dream” to your piece of wood and then start the long process of inserting the nails around the letters and hammer them into the wood.

Once you have all your nails in place and hammered in, you can remove the dream paper sign.

Then you can take the Loomy Bands and start wrapping them around the nails in the color pattern that you want!

My niece loved the sign and she put it above her bed!
